I'm sitting here working on the quarterly report (aaaaargh) and it made me wonder. What is the one thing you absolutely HATE doing at work? Is there anything you wish you could just do all day?
My least favorite isn't the bajillion spreadsheets and hours and hours of overtime I do every three months for this report. (2.5 hours late going home last night, again tomorrow, and I'm sure several more times before I'm done.) My least favorite thing is actually answering my voice mail. I respond to emails within minutes and I don't mind answering the phone, but if you leave me a message you'll be lucky if I call you back the same day. Why? Because nobody ever tells me what their problem is, so I don't have an answer for them when I call. Instead I have to do it over the phone, with them sitting there waiting for me. Just tell me what's wrong in your voice mail so I can fix it and THEN call to tell you to try again. Or give me your last name so I can shoot you an email. And speak clearly!!! Don't mumble your ten syllable last name so I'll never find you in the employee directory. Or even better, how about if you DO want me to call you back, you give me your complete phone number? I got one this morning with no last name and she only gave me 9 digits.

My favorite job is ordering office supplies. I could cheerfully play with Sharpies and order paperclips all day. My love of office supplies is more than a little strange. Mmm, Post Its.

I have that office supply fetish thing, too. My least favorite thing for my day job is proofreading. For my night job, my least favorite thing is soundcheck. My faves: Day - doing the actual writing, Night - the actual performance time.
1colormesticky, what do you do again for work? It sounds like you would love owning your own stationary/office supplies store, no? As for me, I luv what I do @ TeamSugar and the only thing that I would say becomes a little tedious, is archiving emails (I am one of those people that doesn't like to get rid of anything).
2My favorite thing to do at work is special projects that are different from what i do every single day. My boss always seem to ask me to do little favors for her and I love it. The files we work on can be boring and very repetitive at times. Least favorite thing is contacting people over and over and over and over again. I can call, leave messages, send emails, even walk to their desk and they still won't answer my one, little question. Irritating, very. Other than that I love my job.
3My least favorite thing to do is linkbuilding (getting other sites to link to the sites I work on to increase link popularity, and then search engine position) and monthly revenue recognition.
My favorite is monthly reporting (weird, I know, but I always liked making Excel charts and such) and analyzing and auditing web sites to make recommendations.
4For some reason I'm not big on the monthly reporting, even though all I have to do is copy/paste an Access query into Excel and trim off the extra stuff.
Team, I'm an admin. Mostly I sit around and maintain peoples' company ordering & shipping accounts. But every so often I get to play spreadsheets or order office supplies.
5I have always hated anything to do with filing bleeechhhh... But I always enjoyed calling ppl and getting estimates from suppliers when we needed a project done.

6My favorite part of my job is the trading but it comes with its ups and downs. The down part is the waiting b/c most of the times I have to stay after 5 b/c some trades go in late.

I forgot to mentioned the reason why I have to wait. I work for a financial Co. and we work with Wall Street and they close at 4pm but when it gets busy most trades (buy or sale) get in the system late, so I have to wait until Wall Street releases them for me to apply them in out system.

10Most favorite: Doing crafts with the kids. Unfortch Little Man hates crafts and Baby A is mostly too little yet.

11Least thing I like to do is data entry. The thing I like most is going to watch the talent, or check out new talent.

14P.S. I think it's so funny when they don't leave a whole phone number! Or when they talk all slow and tell you their entire life story until they get to the number and then theysayitsofastyoucanhardlyunderstand!
